"Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father up above with whom there is no shadow of turning." ~ James 1:17 (NLT)

Often suicidal as a teenager, today I’m thankful to still be here:

Fourteen…

alone in the apartment.

I sat there with the bottle of pills in my hand, I gave myself a reprieve to watch a final show before I did the do.

What's New

A Facelift!

That's right.

Deeswhite.com is currently getting a facelift and will be brand new (and organized) as my webdesigner extraordinaire at Ventilation Studios is so fond of saying.  I'm tres excited! Hope you will join me in celebrating the new "me" when it rolls out on March 10th.  Rumor has it... there will be... prizes!

Coincidentally the Lifetime movie that was playing opened up with the scene of a family’s devastation as they returned home from a funeral.  Their teenage daughter / grand daughter / sister / neice / cousin had comitted suicide.

Some were angry (at the selfish act), some were guilty, some were confused… whatever the case… it was enough to show me the other side of the coin, the part apart from my solitary pain.

Still sobbing, I returned the pills to the medicine cabinet and sat on the floor by the side of  bed (my favorite spot for TV viewing) and hugged myself and cried.

So today I’m ever so thankful to be here: a mother / daughter / aunt / cousin /sister to  invite you to celebrate with me the gift of life!

Peace and Blessings,

Dee

Author Spotlight:

Last month I had the pleasure of hosting fellow author, Allyson M. Deese on my Dee411 blog which is centered around the topics of abuse/incest, mental illness, rape, and teenage suicide.  I thought it quite apropos since her latest offering, Discovering the Joy Within: The Novel, Fighting Domestic Violence, one page at at a time will soon be released.  These topics are near and dear to my heart, not because they're lovely, but because in some way they've touched my life and that of others I know. The aim is to lift the rug and root them out so that they may be dealt with so that women (and men) everywhere no longer need suffer in silence.
